OUTFOX FAQ

GENERAL

Okay, does Outfox actually work?

That’s kind of the whole point.

Outfox is designed to filter the smelly gases in flatulence before they escape into the world. We use a high-performance activated carbon filter built directly into the underwear.

We’re putting Outfox through laboratory and real-world testing because if we’re going to make fart-filtering underwear, we want to make really good fart-filtering underwear.

How does it work?

Science, mostly.

After almost two years of development with former Lululemon designers, we developed a proprietary underwear design that incorporates a high-performance activated carbon filter.

Activated carbon is incredibly porous. When flatulence passes through the filter, odour-causing molecules are captured through a process called adsorption—basically, they stick to the enormous internal surface area of the carbon instead of continuing on their merry way.

Similar activated-carbon technology has been used in demanding filtration applications, including protective clothing and respiratory equipment.

We just put it somewhere considerably more useful.

Wait. Does it stop the fart or just the smell?

Just the smell.

Outfox isn't a cork.

Gas can still escape. The filter is designed to capture and neutralize the compounds responsible for the smell as they pass through it.

What about the sound?

We deal with smells, not sound effects.

Outfox won't necessarily make a loud fart quiet. If stealth is the mission, that part is still up to you.

What exactly makes farts smell?

Most of what comes out is actually odourless.

The unpleasant smell comes from tiny amounts of sulfur-containing compounds, including hydrogen sulfide and other volatile sulfur compounds.

Those are the troublemakers we're interested in.

Is this just regular underwear with a filter sewn into it?

No.

We spent almost two years developing Outfox with experienced performance-apparel designers, including former Lululemon designers.

The challenge wasn't simply finding a material that absorbs odour. It was figuring out how to integrate filtration into underwear that still looks good, fits properly and feels like underwear you'd actually want to wear.

Because fart-proof underwear isn't particularly useful if you hate wearing it.

Will it eliminate all odours?

Not quite, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

OUTFOX is designed to help reduce unwanted odours using our multi-layer activated carbon technology. How well it performs depends on factors like fit, activity level, and proper care. We’re committed to honest claims backed by real testing, not marketing hype.

Do you have a women's version?

Not yet — but it's coming.

Are they comfortable?

That's been one of our biggest priorities.

Existing fart-filtering underwear tends to make you choose between filtration and wearing something you'd actually want on your body.

We're trying to eliminate that trade-off.

Outfox was designed as premium underwear first, with serious odour filtration built in.

How long do they last?

Built for the long haul.

OUTFOX is made with premium materials designed for everyday wear. Like any high-performance garment, lifespan depends on how often you wear and wash them, but with proper care you can expect them to stay comfortable and effective for a long time.

Will anyone know?

That’s the idea.

OUTFOX looks and feels like premium everyday underwear. There’s no bulky filter, no unusual shape, and nothing to give it away. Your secret stays yours.

Will anyone know I'm wearing fart-filtering underwear?

Only if you tell them.

That's intentional.

We don't think people should have to wear something that looks medical, unusual or embarrassing just because they want a little more confidence.

They look like premium underwear because that's what they are.

Who are these actually for?

Anyone who wants a little more confidence about what might escape downstairs.

For some people, flatulence is an occasional inconvenience. For others—particularly people dealing with digestive issues, food intolerances, high-protein diets or simply a naturally enthusiastic digestive system—it can genuinely affect confidence, relationships and everyday life.

Outfox is for all of the above.

What size should I order?

Start with our size guide.

Getting the fit right is especially important with Outfox because the filter needs to sit where biology suggests it should.

Can I wear Outfox on a plane?

That's actually one of the places we'd most like you to wear them.

Planes are crowded, you're sitting inches away from strangers, and there's nowhere to run.

One caveat: activated-carbon materials can sometimes attract additional attention from airport security scanners, so we'll provide specific travel guidance once we've completed testing with the final garment.

Can I exercise in them?

That's part of what we're testing.

The answer is, it depends on how sweaty you’re getting. The tech will stop working when it’s wet.

Outfox is being designed as premium performance underwear rather than something you only put on for special occasions.

Does activated carbon really absorb fart smells?

Yes. Activated carbon is widely used for gas and odour filtration because of its extremely large internal surface area.

Technically, the process is called adsorption, not absorption: odour molecules adhere to the surface of the carbon.

But unless you're trying to win a chemistry argument at a dinner party, "it traps the smell" works just fine.

Is activated charcoal the same thing as activated carbon?

Pretty much.

You'll hear both terms used. In this context, they're referring to the same basic filtration technology.

We generally call it activated carbon because "charcoal underwear" sounds like something went terribly wrong.

Why is this so expensive?

To be honest, we wish it wasn't.

We're doing everything we can to make Outfox as accessible as possible, but the specialized materials and construction that make it work also make this one of the most expensive pairs of underwear to produce.

Seriously. These things aren't cheap to make.

We're working on bringing that cost down as we grow — without cutting corners on what makes Outfox work. Tell your friends, don’t be shy. We’re creating a movement!

And if you genuinely can't afford a pair but really need one, email our co-founder Charlie directly. We'll see what we can do.

Who is this underwear for?

Honestly? Anyone who's ever had a bad experience with a badly timed fart. This underwear is for you.

Do you want to enjoy cheese at a party without worrying about what happens next?

Keeping your loved one up at night — for all the wrong reasons?

Back in the office and sweating bullets after lunch?

Going on a first date? Getting on a plane? Sharing a hotel room? Eating something you know you're going to regret?

Maybe you have IBS or another digestive condition. Maybe you're crushing protein shakes. Maybe dairy has declared war on your digestive system.

Or maybe you just fart sometimes. Like a human.

Outfox is for anyone who wants to worry a little less about what's going on back there.

Why is it called Outfox?

Because some problems don't need to be endured.

They just need to be outsmarted.

Outfox. Underwear just got clever.

CARE & WASHING

How do I wash them?

[FINAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS TO BE INSERTED AFTER MATERIAL TESTING.]

Activated carbon needs a little more care than ordinary underwear, so following the washing instructions matters.

We'll make the instructions very clear. Nobody should need an engineering degree to wash their underwear.

How long does the filter last?

That depends on the final filter material, how frequently you wear them and how they're cared for.

We recommend replacing them after 50 washes. With proper care, they will still be effective after that but eventually you need a new pair.

Fun Fact - You should replace most underwear after about 50 washes due to bacteria buildup. Look it up.

[INSERT VERIFIED PRODUCT LIFESPAN / NUMBER OF WASHES ONCE TESTING IS COMPLETE.]

Do I need to replace the filter?

[CONFIRM BASED ON FINAL PRODUCT DESIGN.]

Our current design integrates the filtration system into the garment rather than requiring you to insert a separate filter every time you put your underwear on.

Because nobody needs another thing to remember in the morning.

Can I wash Outfox underwear?

Yes. Outfox is reusable and washable. Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent and air dry completely. Avoid bleach and fabric softener.

RETURNS & EXCHANGES

What is the return policy?

They're underwear. So for obvious reasons, we can't accept returns once they've been opened or worn.

But if they aren't the best fart-filtering underwear you've tried, your first pair is on us.

And if it's just a fit issue? Give them to a friend who needs them. ;)
